STEP #1

Tape navigation light mounting insert on fiberglass wingtip according to dimensions A, B, and C. This is the ideal location from the master insert. Due to manufacturing irregularities between wingtips and inserts small adjustments may be necessary. After any adjustments have been made check to see the insert touches the wingtip uniformly.

STEP #2

Some additional trimming may be required to achieve STEP #1. Use extreme caution when trimming inside of the line on the insert, this is the tangent line between the wingtip and the insert. (Body filler will be required to blend the two components should you trim beyond this line).

STEP #3

After trimming, outline the insert onto the wingtip.

Cut out the area 1/16” to 1/8” inside the line in STEP #3.

STEP #5

Bevel the edge of the insert and the wingtip opposite each other to achieve a flush fit.

STEP #6

Place a bead of body filler or fiberglass resin on the beveled edges and bond the components together. Alternative Method: Aluminum duct tape applied to the exterior will hold alignment until completing step #7.

STEP #7

Place one or two layers of fiberglass on the interior overlapping 1” to 2” on either side of the bonding joint.

STEP #8

If necessary fill any exterior irregularities with body filler.
